Pengyi Shi, PhD, is an Associate Professor at Purdue University’s Daniels School of Business. Her work combines AI, predictive analytics, and operational modeling to help healthcare organizations work smarter, improve care delivery, and better support their workforce. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and has received numerous national and international awards recognizing her scientific contributions and societal impact.

Pengyi has led operational improvement and AI pilots with major health systems, including IU Health and UT Southwestern, and is now actively conducting exploratory work with home care agencies in the Midwest. She is passionate about improving the “last-mile” of care delivery: strengthening hospital-to-home transitions and helping home care agencies work smarter through human-centered AI tools. Pengyi brings a dual perspective as a researcher deeply embedded in healthcare operations, translating advanced analytics into practical, accessible solutions for real-world operations.
